Derbyshire Area Scouts Sailing Club (DASSC) Move to Carsington
The scouting association in Derbyshire have for some years run their own sailing club offering youngsters from the scouting movement an opportunity to take part in waterbourne activities and gain sailing qualifications. For some years now Carsington Sailing Club have been associated with DASSC in providing qualified help, running training courses and helping to organise the years sailing program.
This year due to circumstances beyond their control DASSC found themselves looking for a new home from which to operate and approached Carsington Sailing Club for help. The club responded after holding discussions with them with an offer of a corporate membership which DASSC accepted.
The move to Carsington Water has now been completed, and DASSC are now corporate members of Carsington Sailing Club, the club wishes them every success for the future.
DASSC’s season at Carsington has already started with training courses being run on Thursday and Friday evenings each week from April to July. The club will see some fifty youngsters taking part in sailing activities during this period. The first two training courses are already underway with scouts receiving Stage 2 and 3 training. Many thanks go to members from the training team at Carsington who have kindly volunteered to help run these sessions. Anyone willing to join us will be very welcome (contact Mike Stoker)
