How will I know when Saturday Club is on ? What Does It Cost ? Mailing List How to Register

Start Time: 11:30 every Saturday, please allow time to change and get boats ready.

The Saturday Club is open to all Carsington Club junior members who can sail and wish to practise skills taught in their RYA training courses, subject to suitable weather conditions.

Please note that the Saturday Club is for Junior Member Sailors only. The Saturday Club does not provide any training and is merely a mechanism allowing practice and fun on the water. Parents wishing training for their children should book a place on one of our many courses. If there is any doubt with a childs ability the onus is on parents / children to check with the instructor their suitability.

Who runs the Saturday Club:
The Saturday Club is always led by one of our RYA qualified instructors, to ensure good safe fun. Race Coaching carried out by suitably qualified instructors.
Bob Marples, Matthew Archer, Susie Edwards, Andy McMillan and Richard Daldorph are the main team behind this.
We also need parents to help out and all parents are welcome, just put on your sailing gear and make yourself known to one of the instructors.

What Does it Do ?

It should be noted that Saturday Club is not a teaching course. Instead it is a managed sailing session used to encourage junior sailors to develop their sailing skills by Sailing and having Fun. Crucial time on the water allows fun exercises to be used, which reinforce training and build on confidence.
We are often to be seen on the far-shore, or any shore as this allows safe lee-shore landings to be practised. Boats are often doubled up, which allows us to "cruise" around Carsington in a safe controlled manner, as inexperienced sailors are placed with an experienced one.
All aspects of sailing are covered, however youth must know how to sail, as this is not a training session. Should there be no wind we have a plentiful supply of oars !!
We sometimes go and annoy the Race Officers, which is useful to allow juniors to understand how racing works.
Most weeks will often finish with race back to shore.

Want to get involved, simply turn up in your sailing gear, pay the fee and have fun !!

How to Register :
To register with Saturday Club you need to see the Duty Office on the Day. They will provide parents with a consent form, which must be completed.
Once the consent form is handed in the Duty Officer will register you onto the list and provide your membership card.
Membership cards must be shown to the Duty Officer every week when signing on for Saturday Club.
You should then pay the Duty Officer.

Saturday Club Cost :
The costs per session is £3, which includes use of club boats, subject to availability.
Should we use all the club boats they will be issued to newer sailors first.
Starting in 2011 we will need to charge for boat hire, which will apply to everyone who has been sailing for more that 18 months.

Thanks must go out to all who kindly gave up their free time and helped with the Saturday Club.
