Notice of Race

A TEMPEST Last Blast open meeting to be held in conjunction with the Flying Fifteen and RS K6 fleets  is scheduled for 27th/28th October , and is organised by Carsington Sailing Club on their water at Carsington, ASHBOURNE, Derbyshire, DE6 1SU, (tel.01629 540609).  The Governing Bodies, conditions of entry, measurement procedures, changes to the Racing Rules and any restrictions etc are as set out in the attached current Carsington Sailing Club Ltd Open Race Meeting Sailing Instructions, this Notice of Race and any other attached appendices.  All races shall be governed by the Rules as defined in the current Racing Rules of Sailing.

Registration:

A pre-event fee of £20.00 is required for the meeting.  Closing date for entries is 30th September, the fee for entries received after this date will be £30.00 . Completed entry forms (attached) together with a cheque made payable to ‘Carsington Sailing Club’ should be sent to Ged Bellamy 14 Daleview Gardens, Kilburn, Derby DE56 0PT.  Booking-in will begin at 10.00am hrs and will be located in the clubhouse, where copies of the Open Meeting sailing instructions will be available. 

Programme of Events

3 races will be held on Sat 27th October and a further 2 races will be held on Sunday 28th Oct. 

Advertising

For the duration of this event advertising will be designated Category C .

Schedule of Races / Starting Times

Saturday warning signal times are 12.00am & after lunch 2.30pm with 2 races back to back .  Sunday warning signal times are 10.30am with 2 races back to back.

Starting sequence will be K6 fleet (5,4,1,Go) followed by the TEMPEST fleet & then the F/Fifteen fleet at 5min intervals.

Finishing Time Limit

Boats must finish within 15 minutes after the finish time of their class leading boat for their race to be valid.

Warning Flags / Class Flags

The K6 warning flag will be the ‘Class flag’.

The TEMPEST warning flag will be ‘T’

The F/Fifteen warning flag will be the ‘Class flag’.

Number of Races to Count / Discards.

The anticipated number of races in meeting is 5.

5 races completed, discard is 1.

4 or less races completed, discard is 0.

Any decision by the Protest Committee will be final and not subject to appeal

Prize Giving.

The number of prizes will be dependant on the entries received .

THIS NOTICE OF RACE IS LIABLE TO MODIFICATION

Courses:

The windward-leeward-triangle port hand type course will be sailed with the triangle completed first, however if the prevailing wind direction is difficult the race officer may change the course provided it is posted in the clubhouse 45 minutes prior to racing together with flag ‘L’

Meals:

Food will be available in the clubhouse during the event and a sit down dinner at around 19:00hrs is planned for after the racing on Saturday, if pre-booked. There will be an additional charge of £13.00 per head payable on pre-booking the meal when registering for the event.
A vegetarian option will be available on special request at the time of booking.

Would anyone wanting an evening meal please indicate choice & how many meals are required when pre-registering for the event to enable the caterers to have some idea of numbers prior to the day
