Beginner Training Youth Improvers Race Coaching Saturday Skills Catamaran Taster Catamaran Conversion
We have arranged the training to maximise sailing time and would ask you to please arrive early in order to change into clothing suitable for sailing.
Clothing:
When attending Autumn training please ensure you have warm suitable sailing clothing, which is essential. You must have either a dry suit, with warm clothing underneath or wet suit, with warm clothing underneath and a spray suit / windproof layer. We also recommend a warm hat and sailing gloves. If you unsure about your sailing clothing, please check with the office when booking.
Beginners 09:15 - 11:15:
Youth Improvers 9:15 – 11:15:
These improver sessions are suitable for junior members who have completed their Stage One training, working towards their Stage 2 or Stage 3. The sessions build on previous skills, developing technique.
Race Coaching 9:30 – 10:30:
This is suitable for adult and junior sailors who have completed their Junior Stage 2, or Adult Level 2. Members attending should ideally have attended one of our previous race training, or coaching sessions, but this is not essential.

Saturday Skills 11:00 – 13:30:
This course is suitable for sailors who have completed either Junior Stage 3, or Adult Level 2.
The course uses a variety of boats, which helps you to appreciate different boat handling characteristics. Building on the five essentials, boat handling skills will be improved. Theoretical knowledge will also be developed, which will help you make seamanlike decisions. Higher level skills like rudderless sailing are also covered.
You may be awarded Seamanship Skills after attending this course, although for first year sailors we normally find additional sailing experience is required.
SS02 - 13th, 27th October, 3rd, 10, 17, 24 Nov - @ £75 each
Catamaran Taster Sessions 14:00 – 16:00:
Requiring no previous catamaran experience you can have your first sail with another sailor on a catamaran. You will be in the safe hands of an experienced catamaran instructor who will take you out and show you what sailing a cat is all about. Harnesses are available for those wishing to trapeze, with suitable training being given if you have not done this before. Unsuitable for sailors under 12 years old.

Catamaran Conversion Course 10:00 – 15:30:
If you would like to learn how to sail these fast and exciting craft; you need to hold dinghy level 2, junior stage 3, or equivalent. We will teach you how to helm, crew and trapeze in a safe and controlled manner. Having two hulls we cover the different techniques used to tack, gybe, launch recover and the mandatory capsize !! If required we can provide trapeze harnesses, but recommend you bring your own sailing gloves. Please refer to our catamaran training page for further information.

End of Season Training Bash & Barbie - Oct 28th:
Everyone who attended adult training this year is welcome back to this event, with a free BBQ. During the day you can reminisce with your new found sailing buddies. Those wishing to sail can take the opportunity to sail any of the club dinghies.
There is also the opportunity to have a sail on a catamaran, although places are strictly limited.
