Picos and Toppers trainingWhatever your choice Carsington Sailing Club offers a variety of Keel boat, Dinghy and Catamaran Taster Sessions for those interested in having a go at Sailing.

Taster Sessions are available for everyone. Families and individuals are most welcome and the club has a range of boats to suit most needs.

You will be supervised by a fully qualified RYA instructor who will help to make this a truly rewarding and memorable experience.

The Taster Sessions for Keel Boats and Dinghies will last approximately 2 hours and cost £25 per boat

 For Catamaran Tasters  the session will last approximately 1 hour and cost £20 per boat, although longer sessions can be arranged.
(The availability of these will be limited so you would be wise to book up early. Please follow the catamaran link for additional information)

Once you have had the experience of a taster session you may decide to progress on to a full training course.
Should you decide to do this the club will offer a 10% Discount on an appropriate training course booked on the day.

Squib Keel Boat

 

Keel Boat Taster Session

This is ideal for families of up to four or for those with a slightly less adventurous disposition

Sailing will be in a Squib class keel boat

These boats are very stable having a deep fixed keel.

They remain one of the most popular fleets in the country with numerous active fleets at both inland and marine sailing clubs

Buoyancy aids will be provided and depending upon the weather you should come prepared to get damp if not necessarily wet.

Dinghy Sailing Taster Session

Comet Duo

Depending upon your experience and ability there are a variety of boats that the club uses for training and taster sessions.

Starting with Optimists for the young sailor

Then moving on to Toppers

For two handed sailing the club has a fleets of:

Picos

and

Comets

For any of these you should come prepared to get wet and a change of clothing would be well advised

Buoyancy aids will be provided and we can generally find a wetsuit for younger aspiring sailors.

Catamaran Taster Sessions

Requiring no previous catamaran experience you can have your first sail with another sailor on a catamaran. You will be in the safe hands of  an experienced catamaran instructor who will take you out and show you what sailing a cat is all about.
Harnesses are available for those wishing to trapeze, with suitable training being given if you have not done this before.

Unsuitable for sailors under 12 years old and those without previous experience of dinghy sailing.

For any of these you should come prepared to get wet and a change of clothing would be well advised

Buoyancy aids can be provided and we can generally find a wetsuit for younger aspiring sailors.
