RsK6 Inland Championship Meeting

Carsington Sailing Club 17th & 18th April 2010

A bright beautiful sunshine day met the RS K6 fleet as many of them travelled north to the very scenic sailing club of Carsington in Derbyshire.
Light winds were forecasted but had settled down by lunchtime to give a fairly steady breeze.

Even though position swapped many times through each race the overall results remained fairy consistent by the final gun.

Race wins were achieved by local boys, Chris and Martin, vesting Peter and Marick from Queen Mary, Frazer and Georgie from HISC and Robin and Louise from Itchenor, so at least sharing the 1st place out nicely.
However local boys Stephen and David found it elusive seeming always to come in 2nd.

Special mention has to be made to Robin sailing 172 from Itchenor who not only drove up to do the event knowing he could only do one day, but until actually arriving was unsure if he was even going to have a crew. However Louise who happened to have her sailing kit with her traveling with the Rs400 fleet jumped in the boat with some remarkable results.
True dedication by Robin in supporting the K6 circuit!

Another local boat 165 sailed by Chris Hulme showed the boat is a family racer sailing 3 up with his young sons George and William only being 9 and 11, they were always applying pressure downwind.

Saturday saw us complete 4 races in just over 4 hours, Sunday’s forecast was looking very light, however enough energy was left for a couple or so beers and a great meal served at the club. True to forecast saw mill pond conditions on the Sunday where the  decision was taken at 10.45 to abandoned ensuring people could get home at a reasonable time, in fact the wind never did fill in, so an excellent call by the race officer Ged Bellamy.
