Charity Regatta 2007 Report

Final Results: Cruisers   Dinghies   Sailability

Six Hundred and Ten Pounds was the sum raised by Carsington Sailors and Visitors competing in their Annual Bank Holiday Charity Regatta. The two-day event attracted over 100 sailors of all ages and abilities. An enormous variety of boats took to the water including 8 Cruisers, 48 Dinghies and Catamarans, and 8 Sailability boats. The weather was perfect for sailing on both Saturday and Sunday – a light breeze and no rain. There were 10 different categories within the main event and some outstanding performances. Club sailors, Ian Tinker and Sarah Allen, racing a Merlin Rocket took the overall honours by winning all of the five races they entered.Christopher Williams, aged 13 years, in a Topper came 19th overall and secured the Junior Cup. The real winner is, of course, the Charity chosen to benefit from this year’s event – The Donna Louise Trust, a Children’s Hospice.
