Congratulations to Carsington Sailing Club
***** "Club of the Year" *****
Derbyshire Dales Sports Awards
Some weeks ago Carsington Sailing Club was nominated for a “Club of the Year” award as part of Derbyshire Dales Sports Awards.
The awards celebrate and reward people who are making a significant contribution to sport, whether as a performer, coach or administrator.
There are fourteen categories which include individual, club, team and disabled awards, as well as a special category for school sport.
The awards are made to say well done and thank you to those people who are making an outstanding effort to improve their sports performance, or somebody else’s performance, especially as a volunteer.
At a ceremony on the evening of Oct 7 Carsington Sailing Club was awarded the 'Derbyshire Dales Club of the Year 2009' trophy.
This award was bestowed upon the club particularly in recognition of the links the Club has made with schools, giving their pupils access to sailing and the opportunities offered by the Club for youngsters to develop their sailing.
Winners from the Derbyshire Dales Sports awards are entered in the County Awards which also link to the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards.
The results of the County Awards will be announced on the 13 Nov 2009. Watch this space.
Mike Stoker: Commodore
Doesn't the Commodore scrub up well!
The Commodore's review is typically understated and the club should be immensely proud of this award.
It should also be noted that without the huge voluntary contribution and commitment of the members of the training team and the club employees who have been involved, this would not have happened. From those who have visited the schools, to those who have undertaken the training, to those who have helped either on or off the water, this has been a wonderful team effort.
Good luck to you all on 13th November
